On May 6, 2008, Alan Sweeton was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.  On May 12, 2008, Alan underwent successful surgery to remove the tumor.  Alan is now home and recovering, but faces months of radiation and chemotherapy in order to completely eradicate the tumor and prevent recurrence.

The lone side effect thus far of the procedures is that Alan has a swollen optic nerve that has left him nearly blind, so he is unable to return to work.

Alan’s friends, family, aquantinces, coworkers and strangers have banded together to form Alan’s Army to provided support for Alan and his family.

  1. Hi Andrew and Ginny - I don’t know if you’ll remember me, but I worked with you about 10 years ago at Response Analysis (first in the Social Policy group and then HR). I ran into David Carroll this week in Princeton, then visited with Jim Devlin. He filled me in on Alan and his struggles of the past year and gave me the address for your website. My last memories of Alan are as a teenager working toward his Eagle Scout status. I am so sorry that he has had to face this battle, but after pouring over Andrew’s updates, I am incredibly impressed by the positive attitude you have all maintained through it. Do you have any fund raisers planned for the relatively near future? Jon and I would like to make a prize donation if you do. If not, please let me know and I will forward a check to Alan as a donation. I will keep you all in my thoughts and wish for only continued improvement and good news for Alan and your entire family. Fondly, Alicia
