Update #21 for Alan’s Army

Too bad no one listens to Big Dog.  The groundhog had a feast last night neatly nipping off all the just-planted flowers in the side flower bed.  Oh well, once I find time to “take care of” the groundhog, they will grow back.  The place looked gorgeous in the morning sunlight this morning - thanks everyone!

I spoke to Alan a little after 9am and he said his head felt better today.  He’s looking forward to visits from his Great-Aunt Janet and Great-Uncle David, Grandy (my mom), and Aunt Barbara and Uncle Brian.   We will also take Angel and Amber back today, as well as a pair of clippers to cut the rest of his hair off and trim his beard.

I cut a piece of carpet this morning to fit the back of the jeep for Angel and he hopped in and was ready to go to see Alan.  Sorry Pup, you have to wait until 1pm!

Tomorrow is a holiday so visiting hours are the same as weekend hours - 1-8:30pm - yeah!

God Bless,

Andrew

Update #20 for Alan’s Army

Well, today was a heck of a day!

At 0700 hours this morning Bigs’ Brigade, a subset of Alan’s Army, (sorry Fats someone else had also coined the term), led by “Major” John McGinley staged an assault on the Sweeton compound.   In total, eighteen dear disc golf friends arrived with rakes, shovels, home-made biscuit sandwiches, pruners, hamburgers, hedge trimmers, pork roll, gloves, powerwasher, cheese, leaf blowers, chainsaws, etc., etc. and gave the Sweeton place a spring cleaning and serious makeover.  While most of the brigade worked on the outside of the house BOB Graham and Scot Wittman installed handrails in the stairway and upstairs landing for Alan and finished the shelving project I had started in the barn during the longest weekend in recorded history waiting on Alan’s operation.  Kit Bassett and I drove to the garden shop and bought twelve hanging baskets for the patio (usually Ginny’s mother’s day present - but there’s that longest weekend in recorded history again) and a bunch of other plants and flats of flowers for the beds and boxes on the patio.  Everyone worked their butts off and the place has never looked better.  Many, many thanks to:

John McGinley
Nancy McGinley
Eric Robins
Rex Hay
Dave Martinez
Harry Baker
Bob Seaman
John Birkrem
Missy
Marie Fry
Tim Fry
Dan Navajosky
B.O.B. Graham
Kit Bassett
Scot Wittman
Chuck Ott
Trenton Franz
Marc Brooks
Greg Wheeler

You guys are awesome friends and Ginny and I really appreciate all your efforts.  The place looks great and Alan will certainly enjoy relaxing at home on the patio and having you each over to hang out when he gets home.

Alan felt a bit better today and was thrilled to have Amber and Angel visit.  We took him outside in a wheel chair and he spent about 45 minutes with Angel.  Alan’s grandfather Mait drove up with cousin Theodore and after visiting with Alan they drove Angel home so Ginny, Amber, and I could stay.

We’ll do the same tomorrow but Aunt Barbara and Uncle Brian will visit and bring Angel home.

Hey! Photos from last night and today!

I’ll send more photos tomorrow.

Thanks all for your support!

Andrew
